PRBC Institute

“And He gave some . . . as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:11-12

We consider our responsibility to equip Christians for all aspects of ministry (Col 2:1-8; 2 Tim 2:2; Heb 13:17) a joy and privilege. Our robust curriculum has been written with the goal of presenting a mature church to the Lord for his glory (Eph 4:11-16). Our prayer is that God will use this teaching to raise up able men and women for his purposes.

Who is the Institute for?

Members of a local church who want to deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, strengthen their Christian walk, and increase their effectiveness in ministry. The Institute offers a curriculum that is designed to bring someone with little to no Bible knowledge to a good working knowledge of Scripture.
Members of a local church who believe God might be calling them to a level of spiritual leadership or even full-time Christian service. They can use their time at the Institute as part of the confirmation process.
Members of a local church who have had their call to full-time Christian service confirmed, whether that is to pastor at home or abroad, or to serve with some other full-time ministry. The Institute, in conjunction with your own church, can aid in your preparation. Finish our ordination track and graduate with a Certificate of Completion comparable to the Bible training required by the most reputable mission agencies.
Pastors, missionaries, and those in full-time Christian service who need a refresher will find themselves sufficiently stimulated, challenged, and greatly encouraged by our program.

The History and Purpose of the Institute ...

The concept of an institute that equips believers for service grew initially out of the church leadership's desire to train members, who might approach them with a call from God to full-time Christian service, and especially fulfill their charge to entrust the doctrines of God’s Word “to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Tim 2:2). Equipping is what the local church does. God has specifically outfitted it for such a task, and not just those members for full-time ministry; every member needs training “for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” (Eph 4:12). What better training ground is there for this sacred work than the local church? Pilgrim Reformed Bible Institute was established with the goal in mind simply “to proclaim Him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ” (Col 1:28).

Times, Places & Methods of Instruction

Our curriculum is tailored to accommodate the busy schedules of pastors, visiting missionaries, and working men and women.  There are three methods of instruction that we offer.
Formal lecture. Certain courses are lecture oriented. Therefore, they are held at a particular location on specific d
ays of the week and at specific times on those days. They will begin and end promptly and range in size. These courses have more of the typical classroom atmosphere with which most are familiar. All courses of this nature will be divided up by our fall, winter, and spring terms.
Independent Study Tutorial. This method of instruction allows students to work at their own pace within limits and meet with their supervisors periodically, to demonstrate how well they are grasping the material.
Online Tutorial. This method has become increasingly more popular on the college and university level and one that we use at the Institute. It offers the same content and accountability, but with the added benefit of accommodating the student's schedule. There are still deadlines, quizzes, exams, and assigned reading, but students can access the material online whenever they want and wherever they are.

Certificate of Completion in Biblical Studies

A certificate of completion is awarded those students who complete the entire curriculum, which can be as short as three years, depending on the student's schedule.  While most courses, with the exception of the formal lectures, allow students to work at their own pace, they must finish within three months.  Students who are interested in the certification program can test out of certain courses and potentially shorten their time.
